EIGHTIES LEATHER
There's something deliberately tacky about this winter's leather jackets. They all seem to come straight out of MTV's very first broadcasts, back in the '80s. Think Thriller, think Kate Bush, but also the early days of hip-hop. MONTANA STYLE Claude Montana was the Hedi Slimane of the '80s. His broad-shouldered creations in leather were copied around the globe. WHAM! A tribute to George Michael's golden days, when his band Wham! scored hit after hit dressed up in aviator Ray-Bans and leather Perfecto jackets. OLD SCHOOL HIP-HOP Sporty leather, Run-DMC and the Sugarhill Gang style. The cut is always big and roomy and the used leathers supple as silk. Leather down jackets are a must. |
